From humble beginnings as a settlement along the Trans-Kalahari Highway to a thriving administrative center serving the Kgalagadi District.
Kang was established as a small settlement serving travelers and traders along the route connecting Gaborone to the western parts of Botswana. Its strategic location made it a natural resting point in the vast Kalahari landscape, and it quickly became an important junction for those crossing the desert.
As Botswana developed its national infrastructure, Kang grew into an important administrative center for the Kgalagadi District. Government offices, schools, health facilities, and the Kgotla were established to serve the growing population. The village was formally organized into wards under traditional leadership.
Today, Kang is a vibrant village with modern amenities while preserving its cultural heritage. The Trans-Kalahari Highway has brought new economic opportunities, connecting the village to regional and international markets. Under the leadership of Kgosi Basadi Seipone, the village continues to grow while honoring its traditions.
